The First 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah

The First 10 Days of Dhul Hijjah

We are now in the 10 blessed days of Dhul Hijjah. For those travelling for Hajj, we ask that Allah blesses your Hajj and accepts it. For those staying home, we have compiled some tips on how to make the most of these blessed days, because as the Prophet (SAWS) said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days."

Sunnah Fasts

Prophet Muhammed would fast during these days, and this is especially important on the day of Arafah for which the Prophet (SAWS) said our sins are forgiven for the previous and the next year.

Listen to lectures and read about Hajj

Often we don’t learn much about Hajj until it is time to go, yet it is one of the five pillars. It is important to learn about it and the reasons and history behind it, such as when Prophet Ibrahim’s wife Hajar ran between the mountains of Safa and Marwa. Maybe capture the children’s attention through craft projects such as making a poster about Hajj.

Watch the Hajj live

Several Islamic TV channels and internet sites show live broadcasts straight from Makkah of the pilgrims making tawaf around the Ka’bah. Listen to the beautiful Quran recitation as they pray in congregation. This is a good way to find out more about Hajj and is useful for teaching children.

Good Deeds

Do extra good deeds such as giving more in charity during these blessed days. For those who can afford it, be sure to organise qurbani ready for Eid, and consider donating it to those less well off - there are many charity websites that arrange this. Perform extra prayers, and remember Allah through dhikr and recite Allahu Akbar, SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, La ilaha illAllah.

Making the most of the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah will inshaAllah make Eid sweeter. Here at Hajj safe we wish you a blessed Hajj, a blessed 10 days, and a blessed Eid.
